I think that I am finally getting good at predicting lambing. After watching the ewes closely last night, I picked Hussy as the first to go and that it would within a few hours. I set my staggered alarms for the night and had the baby monitor on high. Garrett took the 3 am check and saw nothing exciting, but I was awakened at 4:40 by baby and mom calling to each other. I jumped up and headed for the barn. There was Hussy with her new little lamb. With her being a first time mom, I wanted to watch closely and get her in the lambing jug ASAP. It was a good thing I caught her as she decided to lamb next to the feeder and baby's first step were right underneath it. I found Hussy on her knees trying to crawl after her lamb; great protective instincts though not the best birthing location. Hussy had her second lamb while we were setting up the jug. Both lambs were up and trying to nurse within an hour. She had two little girls.
